APPLICATIONS
MARINE
Our RAM® coatings have been applied for years on propeller shafts in the marine industry, with proven good results. In addition to propeller shafts, we also have extensive expertise in repairing worn-out parts.
Propeller shafts
RAM® coatings are applied to propeller shafts at the height of the bearing surface and of the seal. This extends the propeller shaft’s life span considerably, certainly for high-speed vessels in coastal waters. The RAM® coating is seawater-resistant and can be applied problem-free on duplex, AISI 431 or C45 shafts. Worn-out propeller shafts can also be repaired with RAM® coating. Pre-treatment cleans the damaged shaft surface, and RAM® coating brings back the original dimensions and desired surface roughness. We have a proven positive track record and Lloyds certification for this application.
Shaft sleeves
RAM® coatings are extremely well-suited as wear-resistant layers on shaft sleeves. The shaft sleeves can be custom-made in a variety of materials. Shaft sleeves with RAM® coatings can be perfectly shrink fitted onto an shaft. Heating the shaft sleeve evenly poses no problem for the coating. Execution with undersized inner diameter for adapting on the shipyard is also possible.
Gearboxes
We have many years of expertise in repairing parts for gearboxes. Worn-out and damaged gear shafts can be repaired by means of flame spraying or with RAM® coating. Bearing caps or bearing housings can be repaired by boring out and placing a bush with finishing to the original measurements. Depending on the geometry of the bearing housing, this can also be repaired with thermal metal spraying.
Diverse
We can repair, or manufacture new, all kinds of axles and machine parts with our technologies.
