Preventive treatment of components subject to wear can also reduce downtime.
The right coating can significantly increase the serivce life of components that are subjected to all types of wear in rotating equipment. Typical applications are the sealing surfaces and bearing surfaces of shafts and rotors. Furthermore, other parts subjected to abrasion or erosion − such as pump impellers, abrasion covers, rotary sluices, mixers, etc. − are also treated with a suitable coating.
We repair piston rods or custom-make them new. In the case of repair, an extensive incoming inspection − dimensional, run-out and cracking − is first performed. The type of repair is determined by the results of the inspection (it might be sufficient to clean the piston rod thoroughly and to correct the roughness). If necessary, the old coating is removed and RAM® coating is applied. An intermediate inspection before coating is performed. If repair is no longer possible, a new piston rod can be made according to specification.
We have many years of expertise in re-conditioning solid tungsten carbide plungers. Upon receipt, the plungers are fully inspected and a detailed report is made: this includes measuring diameter, roundness and cylindricality, and run-out, and performing a complete fluo penetrant inspection. In re-conditioning, emphasis is placed on removing a minimum of material to maximize the life cycle of the plunger. A super-finish finishing with RA value of 0.005 μm is perfectly possible. After treatment, a full inspection, with report, is again conducted.
Rollers and cylinders are used in all kinds of processes in a variety of industrial sectors. Typical applications are guide rollers, glue rollers, press rollers, filter press rollers, and so on. Application of RAM® coating on the roller’s bearing surface is an excellent protection against wear and tear, extending the roller’s life considerably. In collaboration with our partners, we also offer hard chrome-plate and other coatings.
Static installations are also often exposed to erosion and/or abrasion, which results in wear and tear. Treating these parts of static installations with RAM® coating can materially increase their life span. We have positive results with flue gas coolers (steam generators), the bottom plates of granulators and coolers, guide strips in the textile industry, and many others.
